2025 Year in Review
Safety First, Always
Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Fortis—protecting our 9,900 employees, the contractors we work with, and the communities we serve. In 2025, we achieved our best safety performance on record. While we’re proud of this milestone, our commitment never stops. We continue to strive for improvement to ensure everyone goes home safe, every single day.

A Culture of Engagement

Workplace Excellence
In 2025, FortisAlberta, FortisBC, and Newfoundland Power were honoured as Top Employers in Canada, reflecting their dedication to exceptional workplace culture, employee growth, and well-being. Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) was also honoured as the I Am Here Organization of the Year for The Americas, in recognition of its dedication to improving workplace mental health.
Fortis is a trusted energy partner, working with government, industry, communities, and Indigenous partners to deliver safe, reliable energy. Across our operations, we collaborate to advance meaningful projects, turn ideas into action, and strengthen the energy systems our communities rely on.

EEI Edison Award
Fortis Inc. earned the 2025 International Edison Award from the Edison Electric Institute for the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission System—Canada’s largest Indigenous‑led electricity initiative. Developed in partnership with Wataynikaneyap Power and 24 First Nations, the $1.9‑billion, 1,800‑kilometre system connects 17 remote northern communities to the Ontario power grid, helping reduce an estimated 6.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions over 40 years. Innovating with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw
FortisBC’s respectful collaboration with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) has been central to the Eagle Mountain–Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project. Together, FortisBC and the Squamish Nation advanced an innovative tunnelling solution beneath the Skwelwil'em Squamish Estuary, an approach informed by both industry expertise and Indigenous knowledge. Developed in direct response to concerns raised by the Squamish Nation, the tunnelling solution reflects shared values of environmental stewardship, respect for Indigenous rights, and cultural preservation, ultimately shaping one of the project’s most significant decisions.
Strengthening Communities
We invest locally, give strategically, and partner with organizations that help communities grow and thrive. In 2025, our companies contributed $14 million and thousands of volunteer hours to support community causes across our regions.
Bringing the Energy to the Canada Games
The 2025 Canada Games brought together more than 5,000 athletes, coaches, and managers across 19 sports, marking the largest multi‑sport event in the country. As an Elite Partner of the Games, Fortis played a central role in shaping the experience for athletes, spectators, and the community. Through a $1 million investment, Fortis was the presenting sponsor for Athletics and supported the development of the Fortis Canada Games Complex, a state-of-the-art athletic and soccer facility that will serve the community for future generations.
